Formic Pro Varroa Treatment

Formic Pro Varroa treatment is a formic acid based solution designed to control Varroa mites and other parasitic threats in honey bee colonies. Developed by NOD Apiary Products, it uses organic acid technology to deliver effective mite control while supporting long term hive health.

Unlike many treatments, Formic Pro works through capped brood, allowing it to target mites within the brood cycle as well as those on adult bees. As a result, it has become a valuable tool in seasonal Varroa management programs across both hobby and commercial apiaries.

Formic Pro Dosage and Application

Typical use:

  • 2 strips per hive
  • Not suitable for nucs

The strips come ready to use and are placed directly into the brood box. This provides a measured and consistent dose throughout the treatment period.

Key Features of Formic Pro Varroa Treatment

  • Formic acid based Varroa control
  • Works through capped brood
  • Ready to use strip format
  • Targets multiple parasitic mites
  • Suitable for integrated pest management programs
  • Supports rotation with synthetic treatments

How Formic Pro Varroa Treatment Works

This treatment releases formic acid vapour throughout the hive environment. The vapour penetrates capped brood cells and targets mites where they reproduce. Consequently, the treatment helps reduce mite populations across multiple stages of the Varroa lifecycle.

Additionally, the active ingredient continues working while brood remains present, making it useful during periods where brood free treatments become less effective.

When to Use Formic Pro Treatment

This strip treatment works best:

  • During active brood cycles
  • When deeper mite control is required
  • As part of a seasonal rotation program
  • Alongside regular mite monitoring

For best results, apply within suitable temperature ranges and always follow label directions carefully.

Many Australian beekeepers rotate Formic Pro alongside amitraz and oxalic acid treatments to help reduce resistance pressure and maintain stronger colonies throughout the season.

For alternative options, view Aluen Cap strips, Bayvarol Varroa treatment, and Api Bioxal Powder as part of a complete mite management plan.

Why Beekeepers Choose Formic Pro Varroa Treatment

Formic Pro gives beekeepers a powerful option for deeper mite control during brood cycles. Furthermore, its ability to penetrate capped brood makes it one of the more effective treatment options for reducing mite pressure throughout the hive.

The ready to use strip format also allows for quick application, making it suitable for both hobby and commercial beekeeping operations.
